This is the first of a 2-part story about Balaam. It happens just before Moses passes the leadership of Israel over to Joshua, and the people go across the Jordan into the Promised Land. The story is taken from Numbers, chapters 22 – 24. This first part starts with the king of Moab concerned about the Israelites camped in his valley. He and his council decide they cannot fight them in battle, so they send for Balaam to curse them. Before Balaam can get to them, he must talk with God, an Angel, and his mule. The story is told by John Walsh and is a part of the series, Lesser-known Stories of the Old Testament.
